[cw-discuss] Activating a serial port

I'm trying to use Crossover to run Magellan Mapsend TOPO mapping 
software and connect it with my GPS, through a Kensington USB-serial 
adapter. I've added a soft link between com1 and the Kensington 
adapter, as suggested in

http://www.codeweavers.com/support/wiki/FAQ/SerialOverUSB

The software seems to run OK and com1 shows up, but doesn't seem to 
see the GPS. And when I try to test the com1 connection to the GPS, 
the app bombs.

I'm using a 2.2ghz MacBook Pro running OSX 10.5.1.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
