[cw-discuss] Installation on MacBook Pro; how can I install Quartz-wm "after the fact"

I just picked up a copy of Crossover Mac at MW SF. When I ran the installer from the CD, it asked me to insert the installerDVD-ROM that originally came with my computer to install the "quartz-wm" components. I don't travel with my System Installer disk, so I went ahead with the Crossover Mac installation without it.

Now that I'm at home, I've tried to add the Quartz-wm component, but I don't know how to do so.

The version of OSX on my computer is 10.4.11, and the version of the OS X that shipped with my computer was 10.4.5, so the Installer on my DVD-ROM won't run (unless I'm willing to wipe my hard drive and reinstall the older version of the system software).

I've looked at the install DVD-ROM and found a few unix executables with "quartz" in their names, but none that are "quartz-wm", and I wouldn't know where to put them, nor what if any support files I should install at the same time.

Can anyone help me with this?

All I want to be able to do is run Windows IE 6 for some patient care management software. The developers of this product INSISTED on developing solely for Windows IE using Microsoft Visual Studio, and I'm eager to ditch Boot Camp and the full install of Windows XP on my laptop.

Even without the Quartz component, the IE 6 application runs, but the windows don't have the titles and window management buttons displayed as they should. There may be other problems, too; e.g., some embedded navigation buttons on web pages in the application don't display at ALL, but the cursor morphs to ts "click me" version (the hand) when I move it over the window coordinates where I know the buttons are, the tooltips associated with the buttons (usually) appear, and the "invisible" buttons are clickable and do what they should.

Thanks so much,
Jim Robertson
