Hey Alex,

That's a lot to digest.  It's hard to imagine a problem that
would require an OS reinstall to fix.  Is there any chance
that it worked, and then you installed a different video
driver, and then the crashes started happening?

Could you clarify what happened with the trial version - is
it that Office failed to install, or that it was crashing on
you all the time?

Also, what happens if you do a 'reset crossover'
(and manually confirm that there are no processes named
'wine' or 'wineloader' or WINWORD.EXE remaining) - does that
speed things back up?
