Yes, Crossover Mac has a built-in X11 server. All Windows windows are
really X11 windows.

Wondering the same thing since day one. I sure hope for a "proper
native OS X application in the future" too. But for the time being it
works well so I don't mind much. The only thing that really bothers me
is that none of the window icons are showing (not really Codeweavers'
fault, since Apple's own X11.app completely ignores window icons too).

YMMV, but personally I think it causes more problems than it solves nowadays.
