[cw-discuss] Found the problem (real one) and solution for Outlook minimize/restore issues

Problem: Outlook is non-responsive/opaque when restored from minimized state
in crossover 6.2
Solution: Turn off Direct Draw support for that bottle - minimize/restore
now works properly.

Crossover->Config->manage bottles tab->select bottle->configure->Bottle
Settings tab-> Advanced Button-> uncheck direct draw.

Hey folks - I have no idea about the "display trigger" but in the original
message below the author also mentions that outlook gooes opaque when you
restore from minimzed and it is unusable requireing a kill / reset.   I had
indicated I also have the same problem - well I have a work around that
works for me right now ( I have compiz turned off at the moment to use my
dual monitors - I turn it on when I'm on a single scrren - the problem
occurred either way) - minimize outlook.   Now to restore it instead of
clicking on the kicker running icon go right click on the little outlook
icon that appears in the system tray - click the "open outlook" item - it
will cause your outlook to pop open and be usable!...not sure why, just
happy it works.   Haven't tested under compiz yet but hope this helps
someone.

I'm driving a Samsung LCD monitor using the VGA port (DVI is not supported
for the IBM ThinkPad dock when having an Intel card in the laptop :( )

Resolution 1280x1024 at 75Hz

OK, I now see why you're looking at Crossover as the culprit. :)

I'll admit I've seen a lot of flashing decorations with Wine in the past,
but Crossover has been a lot more solid in that respect (especially when
comparing IE on Wine vs. on Crossover).  One last question just because I'm
curious - what kind of monitor do you have attached and what resolution /
refresh rate are you driving it at?  
Perhaps this is something I'm not seeing because I'm running an LCD monitor
connected by DVI (although I admit that's an unlikely possibility).

Grasping at straws but highly intrigued,
