Keep in mind that Ubuntu has separated the nvidia-glx drivers into
"nvidia-glx-legacy", "nvidia-glx" and "nvidia-glx-new". You may want
to find the list of which driver supports which card. That is one
potential reason behind why your driver isn't working.
Otherwise, this topic might be suited for the Ubuntu forums now. I've
had a lot of good luck over there with all my Ubuntu questions.
