You are likely correct. Too bad I found out after I replaced a perfectly
functional 6600GT with 128MB of RAM with a 7600GT with 256MB of RAM
running much faster. Hmm, I need to see if I can get Doom to run again;
it ran well before, it probably screams now. This card was under $100
after rebate from my local Micro-Center, and also from new egg.

I hope that they fix this because it is really pretty! I switched from
KDE to GNome so that I could use it. I stopped using it because it is
unstable. I would consider jumping back to KDE, but then my poor wife
would need to deal with change; she does not like change. Well, she does
not like that kind of change. She keeps rearranging stuff and then I
have no idea where it went. It would almost be like payback. Boy, I
could get into a lot of trouble here.

I wonder where Vista got the idea to add pretty effects :-)

I have to tell you, I am a bit afraid of Vista. I have not had overly
positive experiences with it. My usual recommendation for people is that
they hold off for a bit so that MS can fix their primary problems with
the O/S and maybe improve driver support. Spent a lot of time trying to
find work arounds for hardware that works with Vista, but the primary
pretty applications do not. HP scanners, for example. Also, after moving
over a hard drive from another computer (placed it in an external USB
enclosure), Vista refused access to the administrator because the
partition had rights for other users. It was a long painful process to
reset some of the security bits. I was getting ready to boot a live
Linux disk to reset the security bits so that my client could access
their data...

And now I need to change a diaper...
