[cw-discuss] Submission of new application don't work

Hi Guys,
Yeah, this is a problem. The issue isn't so much one of design;
the CrossOver application database is a moderated one, so
the data is much more robust and clean.
The issue is that it takes time to go through those applications;
it takes about 30 minutes to go through each application.
(We make sure URLs are right, spelling is right, that the
application is not duplicated, that the category is right,
and a variety of other checks).
And this is handled all by one person, who has a fairly
serious backlog. The addition of the Mac product to our
mix causes a huge spike in applications submitted and
we haven't recovered yet.
We're trying to get more resources to put onto the problem,
because we continue to believe strongly that a moderated
list is of great value. We've had some volunteers express
a willingness to help, which we greatly appreciate; but we've
got to change the system to accommodate that.
I hadn't realized that there was no notice; that we can fix.
It would probably be useful for us to explain why the delay as well.
So one tip on getting a new application in, though, is that
if you make sure it's absolutely squeaky clean and perfect
in every detail, then it goes in faster <grin>.
Cheers,
Jeremy
