[cw-discuss] smb shares for database access (FUSEsmb)

I have a database app I am running successfully with cx 6 pro. Very happily,
except If I run the (foxbase) app "locally" (really on a linux partition
mapped as Y:) it really runs well, however this db really resides on a file
server, and we have 2 simult. user license. So now I block access to the
other user, backup and restore on the laptop run it with cx then backup and
restore on the server and open up access to the other user again. Works but
not really optimal.
I am thinking about deplaying this app off of VMware player and onto the linux
desktops using cx so I really need to solve this problem first.

When I mount the smb share from teh server using fusesmb it works, but
performance is really poor, nearly unusable. I don't know if it the samba
setup or what. I tried messing with the locks settings and that just got me
into trouble with corruption and really didn't help performance.
Has anyone else tried this? Any ideas?

I have thought about mounting the server as an NFS share and mapping to that
share and trying that, any one tried this way, caveats?

Any ideas or suggestions welcomed..

(btw codeweavers I am really happy with this product, and will be buying more
lic's I want to (we should ALL) help this process!)

Mike
