Is there a trick for copying one private bottle from from one user to
another?
Why?
1.For debugging,
2. When there is one app that is only needed by 2 or 3 users in a special
bottle and not everyone.
Problem Case study-
I had set up a bottle called "Copy of MYOB" under one user with MS Office
XP, Publisher and MYOB installed.
I wanted to play around with this bottle as another user so I wouldn't mess
up the original users bottle while keeping the exact same setup. Secondly I
didn't want to bother reinstalling all the apps.
So as root I copied the "Copy of MYOB" directory over to the .cxoffice
directory of the other user.
When I tried to run the programs I got some errors, so I changed the
ownership from the first user to the second user.
When I did this I accidently changed the ownership for the whole .cxoffice
directory rather than just the "Copy of MYOB" directory.
I don't know if this did any harm or not.
Anyway after all that I was able to run the programs from that bottle ok.
Just as they had for the other user, but when I go to configure crossover I
get the following error message.
I have since deleted the copied bottle but I still get the same error.
I don't remember making any other changes.
***** Tue Mar 13 10:29:17 2007
Starting: '/opt/cxoffice/bin/wine' '--ux-app' 'true'
CXConfig->read(/opt/cxoffice/etc/cxoffice.conf)
CXConfig->read(/home/krsnendu/.cxoffice/cxoffice.conf)
Product version=6.0.1
Default bottle '/home/krsnendu/.cxoffice/default' does not exist
Default bottle will link to .
31181: Grabbing the lock '/tmp/.wine-500/cxoffice-wine.lock'
31181: Got the lock
wine:error: '/home/krsnendu/.cxoffice/dotwine/cxbottle.conf' exists but is
not readable. Maybe '/home/krsnendu/.cxoffice/dotwine' is a stale managed
mode directory or $HOME is not set correctly?
How do I fix this?
