The problem was solved by a brute force approach: uninstalling
CrossOver, upgrading Etch, reinstalling CrossOver and applications.

To be on the safe side, this time I've installed every application in
a brand new separate bottle. Because applications require Polish
locale but are installed and used in a different one, I edited by hand
the bottle configuration file adding an appropiate line in the
environment variables section.

Formerly I used a different approach. I've created a "prototype"
bottle and edited its configuration file to set explicitely the
locale, then made a copy of the bottle for the application to be
installed; during the installation I chose the option of using an
existing bottle, namely the appropriate copy of the "prototype".

Do I assume correctly that these procedures are equivalent?

Best regards

Janusz
