[cw-discuss] VB code fail in cxo v5.0.3 and v6.0

System: Suse 9.2
Xover ver: v5.0.3

I know the subject shows a cxo v6 but let me tell you what happened.
I've written several applications in VB (I know, I'm just a NWP).
Anyhow, the program makes a tcp connect to a serial server which in
turn is connected to a Vaisala 425 Ultrasonic wind sensor. The
connect works fine and when I send the string "WA", the 425 sends back
a string of data that looks something like this:
   WAP2131870503012.6014.7K99xx
For every time I send the "WA" command, I receive this message back
(numbers being different obviously but you get the point.) Ok, my
problem is, I have another application that connects to this one
obtaining the data from the sensor and it takes the data and plots it
to graphs, log files, and updates a website w/ chart images, etc. The
data was not being transmitted to the second program so I thought. I
can run both of these programs in my vmware session w/ XP and the data
streams just fine, I can telnet to the 1st program w/ a konsole and
the data streams just fine. So, I think to myself, "maybe I should
upgrade to the xover v6.x, ok fine, I upgraded, all seemed ok at first
meaning that VB the compiler opened just fine w/o having to reinstall.
Now the program connects to the serial server and watching through
the code I can see it transmit the data to the sensor but nothing
comes back at all. However, w/o changing the code whatsoever, I can
run the program in that vmware xp session and it works perfectly.

Any ideas what may be causing the tcp stack to not work properly in
xover v6.x? I'm totally baffled why this doesn't work. If I didn't
have the ability to watch my own code execute I would be inclined to
think "ok it just doesn't work." However, since I can watch the code
and it works in vmware but won't in xover, I just don't get it.
Ideas, anyone? Jeremy? I could say that at least in this case I can
do a different level of troubleshooting since I have the code in front
of me as an advantage.
