I have heard you need the latest iTunes to use all the features of the iPhone. 
I got a chance to see the iPhone and would probably buy one for my wife if I 
didn't have to use windows to take care of it. Personally I would rather have 
a linux program like  GTKPOD for the iPhone and maybe some day we will see 
it, but for now it looks like it's iTunes only. 

I can't really complain, I originally bought cxoffice for Quicken and that 
still works ok.
