One item to try on printing, especially with a matrix / inkjet
printer, remove the 'duplex / bi-directional printing'.
A large number of the inkjets / drivers pre-distorted the image to
accommodate the lack of consistency in the drive mechanics. If the
print head prints all in the same direction, even though it is much
slower you are sometimes surprised with the improvement in quality.
