OS X may have a full BSD layer, but GUI applications are built on
another layer altogether. A Linux port would basically be as
complicated as the Windows port. Besides Apple doesn't give a damn
about Linux, so there is no reason for them to do a port. Not to
mention they would need to support it.

Amarok supports the iPod quite well. Hell in some aspects it's even
better than iTunes. You should give it a try.
