I've made this pitch to the Wine developers and never even received
the honor of a reply.
I don't personally see this as a Codeweavers specific thing. There are
deep, deep problems (apparently) with Wine and VSTs. Many - probably
most - do not run correctly. Some run great.
I suggest you look into SaviHost as a VST platform under Linux/Wine.
At least it makes it easy to figure out pretty quickly whether a
specific VST is likely to run.
