Perhaps; it does seem we've had a rash of those.

I think it's because this list tends to come in waves;
it's quiet for a while, and then becomes active.  People
sign up during the quiet times, and then when they
realize what they've done, they can't get off.

And, to be fair, this is an opt in list, but the opt in
can happen either via the list page, or via the
'Subscriptions' tab of their account info, so even folks
who aren't used to mailman can get onto this list.

I've tweaked the footer; let's see if that helps.
