kbuildsyscoca is used to update menus, mime settings among other things. My 
guess is that there is some corrupted file causing the probe for new mime 
settings, menu items to crash kbuildsyscoca

Sounds like something crossover is generating is unliked...

I can only say that this does not happen on Debian, Kubuntu or Mandriva.
