Good question.  I have a similar issue with older Windows software that uses
the LPT1 port directly.  On Windows XP this required a special device driver
to be installed.  My software will not recognize the LPT1 port.

The basic method, from what I gather is to create a soft link in the dos
devices folder for lpt1 and have it link to /dev/lp0

I am sure someone else can expound upon that.  If that works, great!  My
guess is that you will have the same problem I had(have).
