[cw-discuss] Cubase LE?

Hello,

I noticed that there is an entry in the database for Cubase VST, so I
downloaded and installed Crossover with the hope that I could run
Cubase LE on my new Mac Mini (I can run the Mac version, but I want
to use all my pc based VST instruments on my mac mini). When I launch
Cubase in Crossover, it starts to launch (bouncing icon), but then
just stops, no error message or anything. There is no real logging
being generated as far as I know. The ASIO directx full duplex driver
will launch (with an "undefined error" in its dialog box, then it
does not see any audio i/o ports) and the The ASIO Multimedia Setup
will run, and will see audio i/o ports, and one can check and set
the buffers/latency etc, but Cubase will not run.

So: first of all, I want to get Cubase LE running. If anyone has any
ideas on what might be needed, please let me know.

Second of all, there are no input audio ports detected I'll try it
with some audio hardware firewired up, but I wanted my first tests to
be with the out-of-the-box mini itself.

Also, is there a way to install drivers on crossover? For instance, I
have a Tascam firewire audio interface (18 inputs and outputs, 24 bit
96khz). Would it be better to A: install the drivers somehow into the
bottle, or B: to just use the drivers that are already installed on
the mini (they are Universal Binary).

Another issue that would ultimately need to be addressed for Audio
Apps ( and I think many many people would be interested in having
this kind of functionality) is latency. The mac mini output shows up
with 5512 samples of latency from the ASIO Multimedia Setup. That is
prettymuch useless for any kind of real-time music making.

Thanks

Joel
