Thanks Tom. I tried that but I get an error message. I used the -bottle param to install into the same bottle Office2000 is loaded (default). The message I get is:

This installation package cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service. You must install a Window service pack that contains a newer version of the Windows Installer service.

If I create a new bottle (win2000), the app proceeds up to the point where the files begin to be "unpacked" and installed - and that where it quits. I get the windows dialog box, the agreement option and the file install progress bar.

$wine msiexec -i file.msi
you may need to set the --bottle as well.
