Peter,

I do have the same problem as you have. I have tried many options, including 
kprinter to pdf, installing a new postscript/pdf printer (even adobe 
drivers), installing various of win only pdf converters. I haven't found a 
solution to avoid booting windows to make a proper conversion.

Primo PDF, my favorite converter, uses ghostscript as a conversion engine. 
This suggest that the solution might be to configure somehow ghostscript but 
I'm not an expert on this field.
