Tim,

The beta installs itself into a separate cxofficebeta directory, and installs 
apps into a separate ~/.cxoffice directory.  there's even a separate set of 
menu entries for the beta installed apps.  So installing the beta is 
completely non-destructive to your existing install.

I'll leave it to someone more knowledgeable to confirm that copying a bottle 
into the beta folder should still work, but I don't see why not.  However the 
beta may better cope with the installation and config steps for an app better 
and so a clean install may get better results for some programs (note the use 
of may and might in there!).  Or it may not.  YMMV.
