[cw-discuss] Quick Architectural Question

Hi All,

I'm getting ready to try out the linux beta. Normally, I start completely over when testing a new major revision. I backup my ~/.cxoffice as well as my /opt/cxoffice directories and install cxoffice from scratch. I'm wondering if this is overkill. Does cxoffice make any binary contributions to my ~/.cxoffice directory? Should I be able to reuse my ~/.cxoffice directory regardless of the cxoffice revision number?

I'd love to avoid reinstalling all my MS apps that I use, but I will if it's a better result. Of course, some of the data in the ~/.cxoffice dir is written by cxoffice (like the registry text file). Would this data or its format change substantially between cxoffice versions making a difference in performance or function? Some guidance about the best experience would be great.

Thanks,

Tim
