I installed CX 5.03 on my Debian (Sarge) box. I used both the lokki install and debian .deb package (Ubuntu should be able to install the deb since it is based on debian).

Installing ie6 was a trying experience. However, the Codeweaver team has done an excellent job of documenting AND support their product. I would recommend spending some quality time perusing through the support docs.

I was able to install Office2000 without any problem (from CD and from my local disk). I would recommend installing Office first, then ie6 because (at least in my case) Office installed IE5 (yuck) over the top of IE6.

Installing IE6: First download the ie6setup.exe from anywhere you want. Then install ie6 by selecting it from the CX install dialog box, select advance install, browse and select your ie6setup.exe file. Let crossover select an "unsupported" bottle (I renamed ie6) and install. (If you are behind a firewall or use a proxy server do not forget to adjust your proxy settings in the configuration panel).

I have not been able to get CX 5.03 (standard lokki) to install and run 
anything MS.  I have been successful with Photoshop 7.

When I try IE 6 it locks the machine on DCom 95.  When I try office 2000 
it hangs somewhere in the middle.  I'd like to try to experiment and try 
to install just Word or just Excel, except all the icons on the 
installer are black and I can't try to install one component at a time. 

I get no messages, just locks up the whole machine.   After a reboot, CX 
thinks office is installed and yet won't let me uninstall.  I have to 
uninstall CX to try something else.

I don't really know what to try.

I'm running 32 bit Ubuntu Dapper 6.06, 2.6.15-27-686
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800
