Thanks for the info.  At least I'm not the only one w/ this problem.

The new vmware player "vmplayer" is so much sweeter than the
workstation edition that it's not quite as much of a pain as it used
to be.  They (vmware) have definitely got screen scaling down to a
science.  I've never seen anyone else ever be able to do the screen
scaling as good as them.  That was one of the main gripes I had w/ the
vmware workstation I ran was to get enough screen real estate, I had
to either run full screen mode (sucks), or I couldn't quite see the
start button in windowed mode.  Totally solved now.

I still like x-over better than firing up vmware though.
