Hi Folks,
I am very happy to announce that today we have shipped version 3.0
of CrossOver Office.
We've added new, official, support for Outlook XP, Microsoft Project,
and Notes 6.5.1. Unofficially, we're excited by users comments that
far more applications are working now. These include programs
like Framemaker and Microsoft Money. You can see the full list
of changes here:
http://www.codeweavers.com/site/products/cxoffice/change_log/
Further, this version marks some fairly substantial changes in
our CrossOver Product line. First, we have merged the CrossOver
Plugin product into the CrossOver Office product offering, so
now all non server versions of CrossOver automatically provide
the Plugin functionality.
Second, we have split the product into a 'Standard' edition and
into a 'Professional' edition. The Standard edition does everything
our single user customers have always wanted, and it does so now
at a much lower price - $39.95. The Professional edition is focused
on our customers who value higher support, multi user features,
and the ability to perform managed application installations.
To try to make this change as painless as we possibly could,
we have taken the following steps:
1. We have added 1 month of support time to all customers.
This should ensure that anyone that bought CrossOver 2.1
is entitled to a free upgraded to 3.0.
2. We have upgraded everyones account status as follows:
A. All Plugin and single user Office customers have
access to CrossOver Office Standard
B. All Bundle and multi user licenses have access to
CrossOver Office Professional, including an increase
in support priority to level 2.
Please note that this is a major change in our systems, and we
will likely have a few glitches. If you feel your account is not
set correctly, please contact us via our store support
mail (store is at codeweavers antispamdot com).
Further, as with all x.0 releases, we do recommend that customers
that are happy with their current CrossOver software wait a
little while to make sure that there are no horrible problems
with this upgrade. We have tested this release more carefully
than any other one we have made, and we believe it will work well
on all distributions, but there are simply too many variables
for us to be sure that will be the case for you.
Along these same lines, it may be wise to install 3.0 into
a test account, or to back up your existing 2.1 installation.
To back up an existing installation, simply make a copy of
your cxoffice directory (either /opt/cxoffice or ~/cxoffice)
and your ~/.cxoffice directory.
To download this new release, you simply need to visit our
website, www.codeweavers.com, and click on the 'Login' button
on the upper right. Enter the email address you used to
purchase the software with and your password (the system can mail
it to you if you've forgotten), and then you will have access
to your account profile, along with your download information.

This release also marks a very important turning point for us -
the compatibility center we released in January
(http://c4.codeweavers.com) has become our focal point. We
are going to accelerate our use of this resource and hope that
you can continue to meet us there and help us drive Wine to
full Windows compatibility.
Finally, I want to make it clear that we are honored and grateful
that so many of you have chosen to help support us in our work
on Wine. I look forward to the chance to work with all of you
in the next few years, as we make Linux a truly Windows compatible
operating system.
Cheers,
Jeremy White
